Gary Hebert
Director of Bands
Mr. Hebert is in his 41st year of teaching with 38 of those years being here at Deer Park High School. He also served music Region 19 as president for the past 23 years. At Deer Park, Mr. Hebert directs the Marching Band, the Symphonic Band and the Jazz Band, while assisting with the other band classes. Mr. Hebert received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Education from the University of Houston. He is a regular adjudicator for marching and concert and sight-reading competitions. Mr. Hebert has five children Dannin, Derryn, Devann, Dawson and Dane, who were all members of the Deer Park High School Band. He also recently became the grandfather to a future trombone player! Mr. Hebert is currently a member of the TMEA, TBA, and TMAA music organizations and Phi Beta Mu band director fraternity.

Paul Parkan
Assistant Director of Bands
Mr. Parkan has been teaching for 26 years and has been with Deer Park ISD for 17 of those years. He is responsible for the Symphonic Band and the Gold & Maroon band classes at the South Campus. Mr. Parkan began teaching at Creekwood Middle School in Kingwood in 1998. In 2006, he was named the Creekwood Middle School teacher of the year. In 2007, Mr. Parkan began teaching at Deer Park High School. Mr. Parkan received his Bachelor's degree in Music from the University of Houston and his Master's degree in Educational Administration from the Lamar University. He has been selected as an AVID Beacon of Light award winner four times as well as a recipient of the Who’s Who Among Americas Teachers award four times. He is a member of the music organizations TMEA, TBA, TMAA, and Phi Mu Alpha.

Alex Flores
Assistant Director of Bands
Mr. Flores is in his second year as an Assistant Director of Bands for Deer Park High School, and is the conductor for the 9th Grade Concert Band. Prior to joining the Deer Park Team, Mr. Flores served for two years in the district as a K-5th Music Teacher for Dabbs Elementary. Mr. Flores received his Bachelors of Music Education from Texas State University where he studied Trombone with Dr. Martin McCain. While in school, Mr. Flores performed with the 2018 South East Trombone Symposium in Columbus, Georgia as well as the World Youth Wind Orchestra Project held in Schladming, Austria. In the Summer of 2022, Mr. Flores was part of the counseling and trombone instructional staff for the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Michigan. Recently, he was a staff member for the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps. Outside of music, Mr. Flores loves to cook, run, and talk anything about dogs!
